Outdoor Pub Beer Garden Upgrade

The Queens Head has improved their Toilet Traffic Light System by adding super bright outdoor traffic lights so customers in the beer garden can easily see from a distance if the toilets are free.

It also means customers can queue outdoors safely without having to go inside to check if the toilets are free.
They have installed movement sensors in the toilet areas which along with the door frame direction sensors ensure the toilets are fully unoccupied before the traffic lights turn green.

Outdoor Pub Beer Garden Upgrade - April 2021 - Continued...

Previously if customers ignored the traffic light and several entered it was possible for the traffic light to turn green before all customers exited. A delay has also been added to make sure customers have exited the corridor and are back outdoors before allowing another customer to enter.

Audio plays when a customer enters reminding them to wear a face mask and wash their hands. It also reminds customers that only one person is allowed in at once to ensure customer safety in a small space.

The objective of using technology to control the toilet space is to ensure the pub is an COVID Safe as possible. The vaccines are having a huge impact in reducing the spread of COVID. However, social distancing and hand washing in toilets is still recommended by NHS England to help stop the spread of COVID indoors where people could potential meet others.

The QH management use the technology to monitor how many people have used the toilets so they can be cleaned and sanitised ensuring any virus on surfaces is killed based on the number of people that have used the facilities rather than per 4 hours or day etc.
